Good Day Mates :)
The Aussie dollar is doing well out there. Gold's luster is fading... Is that possible? Price is what it is.
I just came in from preparing the green house beds and planting broccoli and cabbage. It will be time to plant onions soon. The phoebe birds were singing away. I did not see the geese this morning. I sincerely hope the eagles did not run them out of the area. Attila the Duck was in fine form as he led his armada down the river. There is no one like Attila the Duck that keeps his Mergansers organized as they drive the fish into the deep holes. They fly up the river around the bend into the rapids. Then they form a swept back "V" and come down the river to our deep hole, and then go into a diving frenzy. Any duck who just gets a little out of line gets severely chastised by Attila. The only one who disturbs' Attila's battle formation is the Geese who refuse to let the V pass without disturbing it. No other duck I've observed over the years keeps that kind of tight formation. If Attila is not around, the V is sort of hap-hazard with lots of diving and surfacing on the way down. Not with Attila.
Bink the Mink is back, and she has 3 little ones. She was on the other side of the river at 6:00 AM this morning. She is deadly on the baby geese when they arrive. We have not seen any mink for 3-4 years, and I thought they were gone. The mink this morning is not likely the same one I named Bink the Mink 4 years ago that wiped out all my neighbor's chickens 3 years ago (in one night by the way).
I'm finding it difficult to remain motivated to writing this blog. I've done some pretty good research and comments in the last week, but I did not even hear from my German Friends (which was unusual). (OK, the Germans are being attacked on every front, and they may be getting, as a people, a little tired of it. I'm a great admirer of Germany, and I sincerely believe they know it. However, the Cyprus move was not acceptable by any country.) I did notice that Ellen Brown's piece on banks was picked up on Facebook by friends and neighbors (not from my blog), and today I received several emails from bank analysts quoting the same thing (picking up Ellen's piece) and the analysts hoping you will listen to them that those things will never happen at their bank. Good luck on being correct about that.
I could tell you about the economic reports this morning. My readers and the markets - Don't Care
The stock market is inching up, and looks like the S&P 500 (and probably the DOW) will set a new record.
There is lots to write about, but again my motivation is low. I will mention, there is a very large opportunity to participate in the Nikkei (Japan) to the upside for the same exact reasons that the US stock market was worth investing starting in 2010. The Japanese government is printing even more money than in their past, lowering interest more, and basically saying invest in the stock market. The Nikkei has gone down for several days, but look for it to recover. What you are potentially observing (if you look) is the Japanese stock market following the S&P 500 (and maybe the DOW) model of rising as more money is pumped in to the banks (traders and investors) and the money must flow somewhere. Inflation should remain below 2% through the end of this year.
When I'm bearish and I sell a stock, each sale must
be at a lower level than the previous sale. When I am
buying, the reverse is true. I must buy on a rising
scale. I don't buy long stocks on a scale down, I buy
on a scale up. Jessie Livermore
In other words, there is an opportunity setting up to scale up into the Nikkei using an ETF if you are in the USA or Europe.
Remember, be very careful and take out insurance on any long positions you hold.
Is there anyone who is concerned about the debt ceiling? Have you all forgot that by implementing the sequester the USA government still runs out of money? When was it predicted the government would have the debt ceiling problem? March 27, 2013... Remember that? What happened? (The President signed into law a delay until May 14 or 18 as Washington Post reports). The sequester implementation delayed it a month (or more). Have you heard anything? If you are Republican are you hearing anything from your representatives? Of course, the Republicans have caved in every time, and so as a citizen of the USA -- so what? -- someday the USA has to pay its bills the same as everyone else. The USA can take it from the citizens via of inflation or taxes -- and it doesn't really matter - the middle class has to pay the bill because there is not enough money if all the rich's income was taken for the next several years. Don't forget that eve.
So Long and thanks for the fish... (Douglas Adams)
